History
Boustead Heavy Industries Group has been entrusted to assist, promote and develop Small and Medium Entrepreneur (SMEs).

During the LIMA 2007 exhibition in December 2007, YAB Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Hj Abdul Razak has launched our Guidelines for Vendors and Vendor Development. The launch signifies our commitment to develop our local vendors in the maritime industry, in areas of shipbuilding and ship repairs with the focus to be competitive, competent and self reliance. This is in line with the aspiration of the Government of Malaysia.

Mission
To develop continuous strategic partnership and create a pool of successful vendors with excellent capabilities in the field of ship building and ship repair activities, supply and manufacturing of maritime defence related product.

Vision
To be an excellent Vendor Development Programme’s catalyst and act as an effective, reliable and competent facilitator and advisor in the aspects of maritime defence and related industries.

Initiatives
Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 24 May 2008 for the implementation of Vendor Development Programme (VDP) between Boustead Naval Shipyard, Government of Malaysia (GoM), represented by The Chief Secretary of MECD, and SME Bank. The MoU serves as a platform for the three key players to render assistance in various areas with the ultimate objective of grooming local vendors into capable entities.
